Common Milling Cutters

Commonly used milling cutters on CNC machine tools:
1、 Face milling cutters have cutting edges on both the circular surface and end face, and the end cutting edge is a secondary cutting edge. Face milling cutters are often made into a sleeve type insert structure, with high-speed steel or hard alloy teeth and a 40Cr body
2、 End mills have cutting edges on both the cylindrical surface and end face, which can be cut simultaneously or separately. The cutting edge on the cylindrical surface of the end mill is the main cutting edge, and the cutting edge on the end face is the secondary cutting edge. Note that axial feed cannot be performed because there is a groove in the middle of the end face of the end mill.
3、 The structure of the die milling cutter is characterized by that the ball head or end face is covered with cutting edges, the circumferential edge is connected with the arc of the ball head edge, and can be used for radial and axial feed.
4、 Keyway milling cutter, which has two teeth, both cylindrical and end faces have cutting edges, and the end edge extends to the center. During processing, the axial feed reaches the groove depth first, and then the full length of the keyway is milled along the direction of the keyway.
5、 Drum shaped milling cutter, with cutting edges distributed on an arc surface with a radius of R, and no cutting edges on the end face. During machining, control the upper and lower positions of the cutting tool, corresponding to the cutting position of the cutting edge on the surface, to cut different angles from negative to positive on the workpiece. The smaller R, the wider the range of bevel angles that the drum milling cutter can process.
6、 Formed milling cutters are generally designed and manufactured specifically for specific workpieces or machining content.
